“Now strikes the Ghost”

Det piner Mephisto at Silver Surfers sjæl ikke kan korrumperes. Mephisto har styrke nok til, med et knips med fingrerne at udradere Surferen, men det vil han ikke, for som i et ægte kærlighedsforhold er det ikke (kun) Surferens krop Mephisto vil have, det er Surferens sjæl, som for Mephisto er selve essensen, af alt hvad der er godt i universet.
Med en skaldet satanist, der forsøger at påkalde sig tilfældige onde kræfter, som mellemmand, får Mephisto kontakt til spøgelset The Flying Dutchman, som befinder sig i Limbo, mellem himmel og helvede. Han opgraderer Dutchman med lidt tekno-krims-krams og impoder ham med egne overnaturlige kræfter og sender ham afsted mod New York, for at skabe kaos og lokke Surferen til sig, så den episke kamp kan begynde, og Dutchman, måske ved sin sejr, kan løsrive sig fra Limbo, og finde ro i dødens hvile.

En ret vild historie med nogle fede helsides tegninger. Det er jo næsten smågenialt af Stan Lee, at hive den her Flying Dutchman figur ind i Mephistos verden. De oprindelige flyvende hollænder historier varierer en del, men har omdrejningspunkt i en søkaptajn, der enten stod i ledtog med djævelen, eller spottede både Gud og djævelen og dermed blev forbandet til et evigt liv i limbo, som et spøgelse. fanget mellem jorden og det hinsides (man kunne påpege at det spejler Surferens situation). Fik jeg sagt at tegningerne er fantastiske og at Dan Adkins, der tager over for Sal Buscema, er helt i orden.

Der er ikke længere de her små Watcher tillægs-historier med i Silver Surfer, og historierne er kortere. De var ellers okay sjove de der gamle Outer Limits agtige historier, men man savner dem ikke.
